Quick question

Pete, when talking about the trestle style table doing you try to leave 1/32-1/16" of seasonal movement when measuring for the stringer to go through the slots or tight and snug?

yes absolutely.  That is plenty because the stretcher is only about 7" wide at the most and the movement across it will be minimal

On your farmhouse trestle table, do you use 45 degree angles for "x"  and how much space do leave between the top and bottom "x" bracket?

There’s usually about 1-1/4” height space where the Xs meet the meet leg support. That’s plenty of height for the buttons I use to plug the screw holes securing the through tenon

Yeah, I agree with you peter.
